Understanding Vehicle Titles
Clean, salvage, rebuilt, branded — what each one really means, and why a rebuilt-title car can be a smart way to get more car for less.
The four title types
Know exactly what you're buying
Clean Title
No major damage or total-loss history on record. The standard title most cars carry.
Salvage Title
An insurance company declared the car a total loss because the repair cost was more than the car was worth. As-is, it can't be driven or registered — yet.
Rebuilt Title
A salvage car that has been properly repaired and passed a state safety inspection. It's roadworthy, registrable, and ready to drive again.
Branded Title
An umbrella term for any title flag — salvage, rebuilt, flood, hail, manufacturer buyback, or theft recovery. Every salvage title is branded, but not every branded title is salvage.
Is it worth it?
Why a rebuilt-title car is a smart buy
A branded or rebuilt-title car is nothing to fear — as long as it was properly repaired and inspected. When it is, you're not taking a gamble; you're getting a vetted car at a great price.
A great price
You can get a very good price on a car that would cost more with a clean title — more value for your money.
More car for your budget
Step up to a newer year, lower miles, or a better trim for what an older clean-title car would cost.
Repaired and inspected
A rebuilt title means it passed a state safety inspection and is road-ready — vetted, not a risky gamble.
Full transparency
You get a free history report and a clear list of what was repaired, in writing, before you decide.
A great fit for a smart daily driver, a dependable second car, a work truck — or simply getting more car than a clean title would allow.
Common questions
What buyers ask us most
Is a rebuilt-title car safe?
Yes — when it has been properly repaired and inspected. A rebuilt title is only issued after the car passes a state safety inspection confirming it's roadworthy. We also inspect every vehicle before it goes on our lot.
Why does it cost less?
Because of its history, a rebuilt-title car is priced below the same car with a clean title — so you can get a newer car, with lower miles, for a very good price.
Can I insure it?
Yes. Most insurers cover rebuilt-title cars: liability is always available, and most offer full coverage once the car has passed inspection. We're glad to point you to companies that do.
Can I finance it?
Yes. We offer financing options for rebuilt-title vehicles — just ask and we'll walk you through it.
Does it have a warranty?
We stand behind every car we sell, and extended coverage is available. Manufacturer safety recalls still apply to rebuilt-title vehicles, so those fixes stay covered.
What's the difference between salvage and rebuilt?
Salvage means the car isn't yet drivable or registrable. Rebuilt means it has been repaired, inspected, and approved to drive again. The key difference: a rebuilt car is road-ready.
How do I know what happened to the car?
We give you a free vehicle history report and show you exactly what was repaired — full disclosure, in writing, before you buy.
How we do it
